Scene of the crime: elegant penthouse apartment. Routine case on first appearance - botched robbery turned ugly. Victim, 29-year old Emily Bradford Taylor, a translator for the U.N., was home alone for the evening. Husband Steven, CEO Centrist Capital, was out for the night at regular poker game. Taylor entered the kitchen to answer phone call -- on unlisted number -- at exactly 10:00. She was attacked by a masked assailant, who was killed, allegedly during the ensuing struggle, with a meat thermometer. Definitely undercooked. (Police sketches of incident available) -alleged perpetrator identified as career hood, long history of breaking and entering; why was lock on kitchen door nearly ripped out? -robbery only thing planned? -connection to victim's alleged extra-marital affair? |
